Based in UNESCO International Township Auroville, JOI aims at creating spaces that support spiritual community life based on sustainable living.

We are a Core Team of 9 people, all from very different backgrounds and cultures.

A motto we resonate strongly with is “be the change you want to see in the world”, and this is why we have gathered and created this project within Auroville.

Around the world, there are many children who don’t have the fortune of having access to a basic ededucation. Even less, to conscious education.

As an aspiration to serve Life, and work for a positive global change, we have created a legal grassroot organization approved by the French law, to support projects of EMOTIONAL EDUCATON around this beautiful planet. (check official website: “Les Arts detre Heureux“)

What do we do?

Our aim is to promote social and emotional education, and more generally well-being, using art and creative/ expressive activities…

Our public is everybody! Priority is given for children, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.

We did a 5-month project in South India in 2015 (Tamil Nadu), in a rural school, with children from 3 to 10. This mean we had daily workshops with the children, focused on fine motor skills, expressive and language skills for the youngest ones, and also on emotions and ethical values for the students starting from age 6. We notably created a book of emotions with the 1st graders.

In 2016, we mainly implemented projects in collaboration with another organization in Colombia, South America, called « Happy Tree ». Again our public was youth, and our action dealt with yoga, art and mindfulness. We also made workshops for children from 3 to 10 in a learning community near Bogota, Colombia.

In 2017, we have been back in India and continued to explore feelings and relationships to oneself and to others, with children from 3 to 10 living in difficult family situations in Tamil Nadu.

Who are we?

This project is an idea of Mathilde, former lawyer who is now more into teaching yoga and expressive arts therapy (and certified for this!)…. Quickly, Andrés, ecologist and yoga teacher, and Yves, mountain guide and former educator, joined the adventure!

If you have the good will to contribute in any way to this project (volunteering, ideas, contacts, books, art materials, donations, etc. please don’t hesitate in contacting us 🙂
